FOX 29's Good Day Philadelphia - video footage

This is the edited video footage of Fox29's Good Day Philadelphia story from April 27, 2011:

This was meant to be a live interview with Sue Serio on FOX 29's Good Day Philadelphia, but President Obama released his birth certificate on live television just as we were about to go live. Thanks to Arcadia University for initiating this event, to Sue Serio and Fox29 for coming to Arcadia, and the videographers Chris Fox and Tom Beck (and Tom for the editing)!

Video footage is available until May 2012 courtesy of Arcadia University.

Update - Sedona Arts Center workshop, Aug 15-19

Just wanted to make a quick post to let you know that there are still spaces left in my upcoming painting workshop at Sedona Arts Center from August 15-19. I know Arizona is exactly the place everyone wants to be in the middle of August(!) -- but luckily we'll be in the studio during the day, every day.

Click here to read about the workshop.

Sedona Arts Center recently let me know that they chose my painting for the cover of their 2011-2012 Annual Catalog of articles, workshops, and classes (pictured right). So cool! :)

Also, if you're planning on attending in Sedona, please let me know because I have helpful information regarding art supplies from Sedona Art Supplies sold at a discount to workshop participants. Thanks, PH!

Art in the Open was a great experience. Mayor Michael Nutter spoke at
the Art in the Open opening about the value of the arts in Philadelphia. During the event, participating artists were along the Schuylkill Banks from Waterworks Pavilion down to near Walnut Street. On the first day, it was extremely hot -- even in the shade -- and I painted by the river in between Chestnut St. and Market St., but I only lasted a little over four hours! Only maybe a dozen passersby were out that day.

The next three days
we had great weather, and I set up my easel just south of the Art Museum down by the river. There were tons of visitors, all very interested in what we artists were doing. I updated my Twitter page periodically during the event so that folks would know where to find me painting. Throughout the four days, I met several people who had been following my blog from afar for years. :) Thanks to everyone who came out for AiO!

I will be posting paintings that I created during Art in the Open on Friday and Saturday of this week.

Post-Artists of Yardley workshops & Photos

A couple weeks ago, I taught two full-day workshops at Artists of Yardley in Bucks County, Yardley, PA. I was fortunate to work with two of the most fantastic, talented, and committed groups of artists:

The wonderful group from the 1st day - June 4, 2011:

(Oops - we forgot to take a group picture on the front steps!)

The fabulous group from the 2nd day - June 5, 2011:

Here's what some folks had to say about the workshop:

"Great workshop yesterday! Thank you for the opportunity to find out I can do a painting in one sitting. It was a revelation!"

"I really enjoyed your class yesterday. I learned a lot and it was a very relaxed class, and I do forget to breathe. Thank you for the class and the Artists of Yardley. The farm is a beautiful setting to for painting, too."

"Thanks Abbey. A truly wonderful time -- great setting, great group and a magnificent instructor."

"Abbey, great workshop. Thanks for sharing your talent and love of painting."

The studio and gallery for Artists of Yardley is housed in the beautiful Janney House on the Patterson Farm. The farm had breathtaking views, and the Janney House provided wonderful studio space with natural light that reminded me a little bit of the Art Students League of New York.

Take a closer look at Artists of Yardley on their web site.

I'll be posting my two demo paintings from the workshops, and I'm looking forward to hopefully teaching again at Artists of Yardley. Last but not least, I want to send a special thank you to the wonderful and talented, Susie Morrell (AoY Workshop Coordinator). Thanks, Susie!
