From Wikipedia: Tea bowl (茶碗, chawan). Tea bowls are available in a wide range of sizes and styles, and different styles are used for thick and thin tea. Shallow bowls, which allow the tea to cool rapidly, are used in summer; deep bowls are used in winter. Bowls are frequently named by their creators or owners, or by a tea master. Bowls over four hundred years old are in use today, but only on unusually special occasions. The best bowls are thrown by hand, and some bowls are extremely valuable. Irregularities and imperfections are prized: they are often featured prominently as the "front" of the bowl.

Plein Air for Camphill

Peach in the Sun
, oil on linen on panel, 2 x 3 in., 2010, framed.

Please join me for an exhibition and sale featuring art created en plein air inspired by Camphill Special School's Children's Village at Beaver Run, a community and school for children and youth with special needs. I created these two paintings at this plein air event in August. These paintings will be available at Plein Air for Camphill in October at the Rosenfeld Gallery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This exhibition will be highlighted in Fine Art Connoisseur and The Artist's Magazine in their October issues, and, I've been told, is likely to be mentioned in American Artist. I hope you can make it to this event -- it is for a great cause.

Camphill Apple

Exhibition Information:
October 5: Cocktail reception with the artists from 5:30-8:00PM.
