Before I post about what's on my mind today, I want to share that the Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) in Philadelphia is hosting an open house tomorrow. I was introduced to the CCAHA last November when I had them repair my dad's first edition copy of
The Tower of Babel by Thomas Merton (with woodcuts by Gerhard Marcks, a noted Bauhaus artist) and published in 1957. They did a fabulous job, and the CCAHA is a pretty amazing place to visit. The
projects they've completed are remarkable.
Anyway, the open house is happening to celebrate their 35 years of preserving the world's cultural heritage (hundreds of thousands of paper-based artifacts, including historic manuscripts, rare books, beautiful fine art, and fragile photographs). More information on the behind-the-scenes tour
here.
Last but not least, I want to share with you this song by David Mallett (introduced to me by my dad :). You can watch Mallett perform it here.
It's called "Artist In Me." I believe we are all artists, in some form, somewhere inside.
Why do I fly why do I fall
It must be the artist in me
Guess it's just the artist in me
Why am I amazed at the wonder of it all
Guess it's just the artist in me
